Updated on October 19, 2026, by Mark Sammut: Fall 2026 is underway, so we now know the full 2026 romance anime lineup. I've updated that section and added a few recommendations. At this point, I won't be updating this article again since there really isn't anything else to add.

2026 has been a great year for new romance anime, with each season containing a couple of shows that can make the heart flutter. We got Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You, Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky, and You and I Are Polar Opposites, just to name a couple of this year's gems. Obviously, great sequels haven't been in short supply either, so you could easily fill your entire week with romance stories containing heartbreak, wholesome fluff, or even a hint of action.

As Fall 2026 is currently underway, the 2026 romance anime lineup is done at this point, and we can even start gazing forward toward 2027. It's also the perfect time to catch up on some shows that you might have missed, especially since most of them are now complete. Honestly, a good year for romance.

For each season, we have separated new romance anime and sequels, just to make that distinction as obvious as possible. There is also a section dedicated to anime that have yet to announce a season but are targeting 2026.

I have only included shows that prioritize romance to an extent. Also, no movies or OVAs.
