Dragon Ball Super: Beerus has officially premiered at NYCC 2026, and the remake's new take on the anime is actually much closer to Toyotarou's manga than many fans were expecting. Following recent trailers which revealed that Goku would be using Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken against Hit, it seemed as if Dragon Ball Super: Beerus would stick closer to the anime timeline. Fortunately, this is not the case, as Episode 1 opens with a few new battles for Goku.
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is ultimately going to be a mix of the anime and manga continuities, forging one true canon based on Akira Toriyama's complete vision for the DBZ sequel. The fact that Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is adding new fights so early is a great sign of things to come for the remake – especially since the animation and art direction are on par with anything that came out of Dragon Ball DAIMA.
In a rare old release from Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball has officially christened and confirmed the series' strongest Saiyans.
Since the first chapter of the Dragon Ball Super manga sets up Battle of Gods instead of directly adapting the beginning of the movie, the chapter opens with Goku doing image training and having mental battles against Final Form Frieza, Perfect Cell , and Kid Buu.
