CD Projekt has announced a surprise update to Cyberpunk 2077, due out this week.
The Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners 2 Update (2.5) launches Thursday, October 22, and while CD Projekt kept the details quiet, it’s clearly themed around Season 2 of Netflix animated series Edgerunners, which comes out today.
But what, exactly, is in the update itself? CD Projekt took to social media to confirm that Cyberpunk 2077 will get "new items and features, including content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2!"
"Update 2.5 will be dropping on October 22, 2026, marking yet another opportunity to dive back into Night City or experience it for the very first time," the developer continued.
What does new "features" mean? Fans are hoping for more than minor Edgerunners cosmetics. Rather, they’re hoping for substantial DLC that includes new content. Maybe even a new official, CD Projekt-made quest.
“So f***ing hyped about what we cooked for you,” teased Paweł Sasko, associate game director on the in-development Cyberpunk 2. Perhaps fans should get their hopes up, then.
More details about the Edgerunners 2 Update will be revealed on October 21, 2026, during a special episode of REDstreams, CD Projekt said. Patch notes are scheduled for publication on the same day. The free update itself launches across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, with the Nintendo Switch 2 release to "follow shortly."
Cyberpunk 2077 fans have been calling on CD Projekt to release meaningful DLC for some time now . Some even hold out hope for an expansion for the near six-year-old game, especially in light of the announcement of the Songs of the Past expansion for the 11-year-old The Witcher 3.
