According to the Associate Game Director of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, around "half" of the game's quest team have a background in modding CD Projekt Red's previous games. As the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel's quest team, these former modders are charged with creating and implementing a range of story-driven quests.
CD Projekt Red has always had a close and very visible relationship with the modding community. The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 have some of the most active modding communities in the industry, coming only a little behind games like Skyrim and Fallout. CD Projekt Red has also frequently stated just how much it appreciates fan content and how it keeps a close eye on what's being created. It seems CD Projekt Red is also keeping a close eye on the modders themselves.

In a recent REDstreams livestream dedicated to Cyberpunk 2077's 2.5 update (at around the 27-minute mark), the Associate Game Director of the Cyberpunk sequel, Pawel Sasko, spoke openly about the influence the modding community has had on the first game and its in-development sequel. Sasko says that, in his opinion, modding is a great "foot-in-the-door technique, and a gateway into game dev," as a modder was initially just a player who started experimenting with customizing a game.
" Sasko adds that modding is a "wonderful way to actually start your career" as it lets players "learn and see how to actually build" games.
