Pearl Abyss reveals the full details about the launch update for Crimson Desert, and it's Charting the Unknown DLC, bringing new features and content to the game, as well as even more quality of life improvements. While there has been no shortage of updates for Crimson Desert, the game has received the biggest one yet, thanks in large part to the brand-new premium DLC called Charting the Unknown.
Following the launch of Crimson Desert back in March 2026, Pearl Abyss has impressively kept the game updated nearly on a weekly basis. The studio continued to listen to player feedback, identifying many of the game's weak spots and not only made adjustments to them, but also continued to add new features and content. As such, Crimson Desert is a very different game now than it was at launch, even compiling everything into an Enhanced Edition update that was made free for all players back in September. While that was no doubt a big moment for the game, it has now received one of the biggest updates to date thanks to its newly available DLC.
Crimson Desert players now have a new feature to try out that visibly changes the vast environments of Pywel as time goes on.
04 is a massive one, encompassing all the new features and content within Crimson Desert Charting the Unknown , but also confirming all the behind the scenes changes and improvements as well. Much of the content has already been shown off in pre-launch trailers and announcements, including being able to explore the massive ocean either by a customizable ship or through underwater mounts and diving suit.
