CD Projekt Red details new Cyberpunk 2077 update - adding dual-wielding, cross-platform mods, Edgerunners story quests, and more

CD Projekt Red has detailed the substantial update coming to Cyberpunk 2077, revealing a new dual-wielding skill for pistols and revolvers, cyberware customisation, cross-platform mod support, and a brand-new Edgerunners-related story quest featuring voice actors from the Netflix anime show.

The update arrives 22nd October on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X, with the Switch 2 version following "in a couple of days", CDPR media manager Laura Beitzel said during a RedStream this afternoon.

Actual details on the new Edgerunners-related story quest were intentionally thin, but Cyberpunk 2 associate game director Pawel Sasko said it had been written with people involved in the Netflix show, and CDPR publishing producer Natlia Pych it would be a prequel to Edgerunners 2. "It will be the last job of the King's team," Pych said, and it will let us meet characters on the team: Emily, Meshuga, and Miguel.

There'll also be a new Edgerunners radio station added to Cyberpunk 2077 to listen to, which has 16 tracks comprised of songs from both Edgerunners 1 and 2, Sasko said.

Another new type of quest coming in the update is Night City Tours, which is a less action-focused pursuit - the word "cosy" was thrown around. Night City founder Richard Night tells you the lore of the city while things happen around him that don't quite seem to add up. This is a mystery you need to solve. There are also minor tarot arcana being added to the game for you to find, in conjunction with an actual physical deck going on sale.
