Can You Save Trick in Star Wars Zero Company?

Towards the end of Chapter 11, Star Wars Zero Company players will need to complete the Stillwatch mission, which begins with Supreme Chancellor Palpatine issuing a secret military order that most Star Wars fans will be all too familiar with. You'll be given control of Trick and told to execute the Republic traitors, at which point, the only way to progress the story is to shoot one of your former teammates.

After you do so, control switches back to Hawks and the rest of the team, and you'll need to defeat Trick and the Stillwatch battalion. If, like me, you've become attached to Trick, you'll probably be wondering whether there's a way to complete the mission without having to defeat him. I tried a bunch of different things, including reloading an old Star Wars Zero Company save file to try and save Trick. Here's what I found.

Warning: The first section of this guide contains minor spoilers for Star Wars Zero Company

To cut a long story short, it's impossible to complete the Stillwatch mission without defeating Trick . I tried repeatedly skipping my turn after beating the Stillwatch battalion (Trick just keeps on attacking), melee attacking Trick to within an inch of his life (he refuses to see reason), and even reloading an old save file and retrying the mission without choosing Trick as one of my operators (he just comes along anyway). As such, you should just treat it like ripping off a band-aid and get it over with as quickly as possible.
