Upon finishing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's campaign, players will be presented with a small, but nevertheless touching tribute to Vince Zampella. Zampella was a defining voice in the modern first-person shooter scene, and he had direct ties with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's primary developer, Infinity Ward.
Born in October 1969, Vince Zampella's career in the video game industry lasted around three decades. In those 30 or so years, Zampella co-founded two beloved gaming studios, helped to create some of the most acclaimed Call of Duty games of all time, and brought a number of innovations to the FPS genre. Vince Zampella sadly died in a car accident in December 2025, but he lives on in the games he helped to create and the memories of the people he worked alongside.
A new interview with Activision seems to have confirmed that 2027 will indeed be the start of a new era for Call of Duty.
Spotted and shared on social media by Game Awards founder Geoff Keighley, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 features a tribute to Vince Zampella in its post-campaign credits. " For those unaware, Zampella co-founded Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 studio Infinity Ward back in May 2002 alongside Grant Collier and Jason West, who all left EA following their work on Medal of Honor: Allied Assault . While working under Activision, Zampella worked on the first Call of Duty , Call of Duty 2 , Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare , and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 .
