Bungie's Josh Deane officially teases a brand-new Destiny release and hints at PC launch. Bungie's looter-shooter has had one of its strangest years, going from a middling reception of its Ash and Iron update in 2025 to the launch of Renegades, which failed to bring in and retain players, then from the success of Destiny 2's Monument of Triumph final update to the game's announced resurrection. Destiny is very much not done, and a Bungie official seemingly confirms just as much with a new, massive tease.
Destiny 2's Monument of Triumph update was meant to be its last, and possibly the last for the entire franchise, but fans were very vocal about their feelings. For example, in September, Sony's State of Play was flooded by Destiny 3 calls and a general boycott of the company's products over its decision to go digital. There were two fan-arranged server slams for Destiny 2, too, to make sure that player numbers on Steam and other platforms could not be ignored by Bungie and/or Sony. Evidently, all this worked in some capacity.
Destiny 2's new and last Monument of Triumph update includes a secret cutscene with follow-up dialogue, setting the stage for D3's story.
In a surprising and hype-inducing tweet, Bungie Head of Product and General Manager of Marathon, Josh Deane, hints at the official remaster and PC port of Destiny 1 . " followed by a GIF of someone eating popcorn. This might be just a tease, but with Bungie needing to rebuild trust with its fanbase, and with Destiny 2 facing death and resurrection in the span of a few months, it's very likely that this is something that the studio is actively working on, even if it's just an incubation project.
