Brand-New Xbox Controller Details Leak Online

New details about Xbox's rumored Elite Wireless Controller Series 3 appear to have leaked from the Xbox Design Lab backend, potentially revealing several major upgrades for Microsoft's next premium gamepad. The latest Xbox leak points to plenty of new tech coming to the controller, in line with the company's comments on future consoles and hardware.

Former PlayStation boss Shawn Layden questions Xbox's current direction as the gaming brand enters a new era under CEO Asha Sharma.

Newly discovered files in the Xbox Design Lab backend appear to refer to a controller codenamed "Edessa," which is believed to be Microsoft's next premium Xbox gamepad and potentially the long-rumored Elite Series 3. Reddit user u/esketitethan says the Design Lab backend contained configuration records and 16 3D component models tied to Edessa, along with a related customization product called "Beatrice." The files list Hall-effect and TMR thumbstick modules, advanced haptics using VCA motors, Xbox's existing impulse triggers, and a dedicated audio scroll wheel that may explain one of the unknown controls seen in earlier leaked images. Other options reportedly include low-friction or silent sticks, several paddle shapes, multiple D-pad designs, metal faceplates, engraving, and dozens of mapped topper and paddle combinations. At the time of this writing, Microsoft has not formally announced an Elite Series 3 or confirmed that Edessa is the final product, so take these reports with a grain of salt.
