A new Xbox update is out that officially adds Mythic Achievements for players to earn. Xbox gamers have been eagerly awaiting the addition since it was leaked back in September.
Xbox and PlayStation have gone head-to-head for generations of consoles, and one of the differences between them is how they've handled achievements. Xbox introduced achievements first, way back in 2005, with Sony following up with its own trophies in 2008. However, Sony took it a step further by incorporating Platinum Trophies, which are a special reward for unlocking every single achievement in a game. Xbox fans have been asking for an equivalent since, and now, after 18 long years, Xbox has finally implemented Mythic Achievements as its answer.
Gamers can get and keep a whopping 25 games from Xbox for free, but there's a catch as to who is eligible for the opportunity.
A new Xbox update released on October 28 that adds a number of new features and improvements to the consoles. The most notable among them are Mythic Achievements, which are effectively the Xbox equivalent of earning a Platinum on PlayStation; in other words, a special trophy for completing all other achievements in the game. Players can check their Mythic Achievement count in the Gaming tab on their Xbox profiles. Mythic Achievements will be rewarded retroactively, so anyone that's already cleared all the basic achievements in a game should see a matching Mythic Achievement.
Additionally, this update added the ability to choose between startup animations, added detailed badge information on profiles, made adjustments to the home screen, and introduced higher-quality remote play streaming with support for up to 1440p.
