Boruto Officially Unveils The Weakest Hokage Of All Time

On September 17, 2026, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 37 was officially released, and it paved the way for Konoha to undergo a significant change. Heading into Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 38, which is now confirmed to be released on October 20, 2026, we are eagerly waiting to see Konoha finally unveil its new 8th Hokage.

During the time skip, Shikamaru Nara had taken the office as the temporary 8th Hokage of Konoha, but now, this is set to change with Lord Kobu and Nishi unearthing significant evidence to dismiss Shikamaru as Hokage. Konoha is set to bring forth its latest 8th Hokage, who is unfortunately also going to be the weakest that the village has ever seen.

Shikamaru Nara was made the temporary Hokage of Konoha during the timeskip. The primary reason for this was Naruto Uzumaki's perceived death , which was announced at the end of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations chapter 79, released officially on March 19, 2023. Naturally, Konoha losing its Hokage meant that the village had to elect a new leader, and this came in the form of Shikamaru Nara, who was previously the right-hand man of Naruto Uzumaki. While Shikamaru was offered the position of Hokage, he only took it on a temporary basis. This is because Shikamaru had, on multiple occasions, figured out the truth about Naruto's disappearance and the real identities of Boruto Uzumaki and Kawaki. Due to how Omnipotence works as a jutsu, his memories kept getting overwritten again and again.
