Best Keyblades In Kingdom Hearts 1

Updated on October 22, 2026, by Mark Sammut: As we wait for Kingdom Hearts 4, this might be the perfect time to revisit the original KH, which still holds up. It's also much harder than its sequels, so you will want the best Keyblade.

Kingdom Hearts came out nearly 25 years ago, a statement that might spark an existential crisis for some folks. Square Enix's Disney masterpiece hasn't lost an ounce of charm throughout that time, and you can still have a blast smacking Heartless on the head with a Keyblade. While more of an action-adventure than a traditional RPG, Kingdom Hearts nevertheless lets you upgrade Sora's primary weapon throughout the campaign, with the game containing 18 Keyblades.

Although most of the blades are viable, they are far from equal, and some of them are incredibly strong compared to their peers. What is the strongest Keyblade Sora can use in Kingdom Hearts? How do you unlock it? Let's go over each and every Keyblade in the game, from the weakest to the strongest (and most ultimate).

Serving as Sora's default weapon in Kingdom Hearts 1, the Kingdom Key is one that is destined to be replaced the moment something else becomes available. Boasting a semi-decent +3 Strength, it proves to be especially useful during the early segments of the game, but that's mainly because it's the player's only option until they reach and complete Tarzan's Deep Jungle World.

Considering how this is the first Keyblade Sora gains access to, it makes sense why it doesn't offer the best stats.
