After 1 Year, Solo Leveling Makes A New Comeback In Korea

While manga dominates all over the world, a new challenger has been on the rise with manhwa, originating from South Korea. Manhwa series, as of recently, have garnered a lot of traction, and in large part, this is thanks to Solo Leveling, by Chugong. Thanks to its successful anime adaptation by A-1 Pictures, it has taken over the world.

While Solo Leveling is undoubtedly popular all over, the main fanbase of the series will always be its home country, South Korea, where it is most popular. Solo Leveling as a whole has been on the low over the last year, but a new project is officially coming to South Korea very soon. Solo Leveling returns to the country with a new sequel in the form of Ragnarok Season 3. The sequel’s new season is officially kickstarting, and just like its predecessors, it will be a massive hit in its home country.

At the moment, there's simply no other South Korean series anywhere near as popular as Chugong's magnum opus, Solo Leveling. Chugong's novel, written between 2016 and 2018 in South Korea, was already massively popular, but its manhwa adaptation by the legendary South Korean artist Dubu is what allowed it to take off. The series has gained more traction thanks to its anime adaptation by Japanese studios Aniplex and A-1 Pictures. While Japan’s contribution has been massive, the series wouldn't have gone this far without the support of its home country, both with its audiences and its creators.
