Activision shows deep dive for Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ extraction mode

Activision released details of its DMZ extraction mode for multiplayer in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 debuts on October 23 as the latest annual installment for Call of Duty after last year’s lackluster Black Ops 7. DMZ is expected to be a key novelty that could attract players back to the franchise.

Today, Activision’s Infinity Ward studio started its deep dive into DMZ with a guide to Hajin and the Exclusion Zone, the battlefield where the battle-royale-like extraction multiplayer matches will take place. The overall game is set in a fictional future where North Korea invades South Korea alongside a covert forces storyline involving Captain John Price. The DMZ map includes a nuclear radiation zone where a South Korean nuclear reactor has been damaged in the war.

The deep dive covers ways to efficiently progress in DMZ deployments, HUD and Tac-Map intel, enemy forces, vehicles, after-action reports, every major POI, and deployment stories from the field.

The studio calls Hajin Call of Duty’s definitive extraction shooter experience, featuring a persistent, open-world combat environment where players loot, complete objectives, fight both enemies and rival operators, and hope to extract with their rewards.
