Indian debutant Paritosh has secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Puyo Puyo Champions esports event at the 2026 Asian Games, finishing third in Group B with a 2-2 record on Thursday.
The result keeps India’s involvement in the puzzle-game discipline alive as the tournament heads into its knockout stage this weekend at the Aichi Sky Expo Hall in Nagoya.
Paritosh opened his Group B campaign with a commanding 3-0 win over Mongolia’s Munkhzorig Ganbold before grinding out a tighter 3-2 victory against Singapore’s Koh Mun June Justin.
The momentum shifted in his final two matches. Chinese Taipei’s Tzu-ang Kuo took him down 0-3, and Thailand’s Tanarak Wongkitikun followed with a 3-2 win to close out Paritosh’s group-stage slate.
Two wins and two losses were enough to place Paritosh third in Group B, with the top three finishers from each group advancing to the knockout rounds.
That threshold proved decisive at the Aichi Sky Expo Hall, where Paritosh’s third-place finish kept his campaign alive despite splitting his four group matches evenly.
Puyo Puyo Champions is described in tournament coverage as a puzzle video game.
The group stage supplied a complete route to the knockout rounds for Paritosh. The 3-0 win over Munkhzorig Ganbold and the 3-2 result against Koh Mun June Justin delivered his two victories. Defeats against Tzu-ang Kuo and Tanarak Wongkitikun completed a four-match slate and left him with two wins and two losses. Under the competition format, the top three athletes from each group advance, so his third-place finish was enough to keep India’s campaign alive at Aichi Sky Expo Hall.
