7 Things French Anime Do Better Than Japanese Anime

Although it is not as well known among fans, France has always been one of the largest consumers of anime and manga in the world. As such, it is no surprise that several of the most prominent names in the animation industry in the country grew up alongside the best and most beloved classical anime. This has resulted in many French projects being directly inspired by the best anime Japan has to offer.

These cartoons take several of the most characteristic traits found in Japanese animation and turn them into unique and innovative narratives, several of which have become overwhelmingly popular worldwide. Naturally, these anime-inspired shows are unique and significantly different from those made in Japan. While Japanese animation remains superior in several respects, there are a plethora of areas in which French artists have far surpassed those who inspired their creations.

Although French characters in anime aren't very numerous, these individuals steal the show.

Recent years have proven just how beautiful animation can be, with several of the most popular shows including breathtaking visuals that greatly enhance the audience’s experience. Lamentably, this ability does not fully translate to 3D animation, which has caused the industry many issues over the years.

French studios, which have been experimenting with this art style for decades, have found a perfect balance between the two, making it much easier for artists to incorporate both. There have been many entries through the years that utilize stunning 2D animation and combine it with awe-inspiring CGI, resulting in remarkable cartoons that leave fans both impressed and satisfied.
