According to SteamDB, a total of 21,248 new games were added to Valve’s PC store in 2025. That was almost 3,000 more than 2024, which itself beat 2023 by over 4,000. 2026 is going to smash that record again, and we know this because it already has, and it’s only mid-October. But this could be nothing compared to what we’ll see in 2027.
As spotted by Bredan Keogh on BlueSky, today marks the moment that Steam releases during 2026 exceeded those from all of 2025. We’re now at a total of 21,388, with two-and-a-half months of the year—traditionally the busiest ones for game releases—still remaining. SteamPageAnalyzer is projecting that the total will reach at least 24,000.
Happy "More games have now been released on Steam in 2026 so far than in all of 2025" day for those who celebrate
This is, obviously, a silly number of games. It breaks down to 66 games releasing each day, up from 55 in 2025, creating a market that’s ever more cluttered and in which a growing number of extremely good games will drown. This sucks, but thankfully is something Steam owner Valve is slowly working on, with recent ideas like the prominent front-page spot for Your Personal Calendar. This is a ten-box section of games the Steam algo suspects you’ll be interested in playing, whether because you’ve previously wishlisted them, or because they match the sorts of games you tend to play, and it’s pretty good at doing it. Some developers are also anecdotally reporting that it’s helping their games get seen by the people more likely to buy them, and hopefully Valve will lean in and continue to innovate in these areas.
