Unify Foodworks raises Rs 5 Cr in seed round

Unify Foodworks, the exclusive pan-Indian master franchisee of Moe’s Casa Mexicana and Carvel, has raised Rs 5 crore in a seed funding round through compulsorily convertible debentures (CCDs).

The fresh capital will be used to expand the presence of both brands across the National Capital Region (NCR), where they made their India debut, Unify Foodworks said in a press release.

The company plans to increase store density and strengthen consumer recall in the region. It also aims to refine its operating model as it works towards building the two brands into national restaurant chains, with a long-term target of opening more than 100 stores across India.

Launched in November 2024 by Sumer Sethi, Unify Foodworks holds the exclusive pan-Indian master franchise rights for Moe’s Casa Mexicana, Carvel and Moe’s Southwest Grill.

Moe’s Casa Mexicana is the international evolution of US fast-casual restaurant chain Moe’s Southwest Grill, with India serving as its first international market. Its menu includes burritos, bowls and tacos, alongside India-focused offerings such as Habanero Paneer.

Carvel, an American ice cream brand founded in 1934, entered India in 2025 with its first outlet in Connaught Place, New Delhi. Both brands are owned by US-based private equity firm Roark Capital, whose portfolio also includes Subway, Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin’.

Unify Foodworks is also investing in supply chain, logistics and store-level training as it prepares to expand beyond NCR. The company plans to use the region to test store economics, menu localisation and operational efficiency before replicating the model in other markets.
