NABVENTURES, the venture capital arm of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), has secured commitments of Rs 450 crore in the first close of its second fund.
The fund is targeting a total corpus of Rs 1,500 crore, including a green-shoe option, with NABARD serving as its anchor investor.
NABVENTURES Fund II will invest in early and growth-stage companies working across agriculture, food, agribusiness and rural markets.
Its focus areas include agritech, rural fintech, climate-smart solutions, supply chain and logistics, and other businesses addressing challenges across the agricultural value chain.
The fund plans to back companies using technology and scalable business models to improve agricultural productivity, strengthen supply chains and support rural enterprises. It will also focus on solutions related to sustainability, climate resilience, financial inclusion and livelihood creation.
Along with capital, NABVENTURES plans to leverage NABARD’s nationwide presence and sectoral expertise to help portfolio companies expand their operations and reach rural markets.
The new fund builds on NABVENTURES’ earlier funds, which have collectively backed 23 enterprises. Through Fund II, the firm aims to support businesses that combine commercial growth with solutions for India’s agriculture and rural economy.
