Hitesh Oberoi resigns as Info Edge MD and CEO, Sanjeev Bikhchandani to take over

Info Edge founder Sanjeev Bikhchandani will take over as Managing Director and Group CEO of the company from December 3, 2026, as Hitesh Oberoi steps down from his full-time operating role after nearly 27 years with the company.

In a regulatory filing on Tuesday, the parent company of Naukri.com said its board has approved Bikhchandani’s appointment as Executive Vice Chairman, Managing Director and Group CEO, subject to shareholder approval. His new term will run until April 26, 2031, in line with his existing appointment.

Oberoi, who has served as MD and CEO for over 16 years, will step down from the roles at the close of business on December 2. He will continue on the board as a non-executive, non-independent director, subject to shareholder approval.

In his resignation letter, Oberoi said he wanted to make more time for higher education, entrepreneurship, investing, philanthropy and his family. He added that the decision came after careful consideration and that he believes the company has the leadership depth to move into its next phase.

During his tenure, Info Edge strengthened its core businesses, including Naukri.com, 99acres, Jeevansathi, Shiksha and Jobhai. Oberoi said Naukri has built an AI and data strategy, while 99acres has emerged as a cash-generating business. Jeevansathi and Aisle have also turned profitable, while Jobhai has developed its monetisation model.

Info Edge’s market capitalisation grew from around Rs 2,500 crore to nearly Rs 80,000 crore during Oberoi’s 16 years as CEO, according to the company’s press release.

Bikhchandani, who founded Info Edge, has played a key role in building its businesses and investment portfolio.
