Former Zepto CXO Shashank Shekhar Sharma raises $1 million for his new startup

Gurugram-based premium grocery platform Solgram has raised over $1 million in a pre-seed funding round led by DSG Consumer Partners and Saama Capital, less than three months after it launched.

Hospitality entrepreneur Kapil Chopra, founder of The Postcard Hotel, also took part in the round, the startup said.

Founded by Shashank Shekhar Sharma, a former CXO at quick-commerce firm Zepto, Solgram offers fresh produce, dairy products, meat, seafood and other temperature-sensitive goods. The startup manages its entire supply chain, from sourcing products to delivering them directly to customers.

The startup said it will use the fresh capital to expand its cold-chain infrastructure, strengthen its technology stack, deepen sourcing relationships and scale operations across the National Capital Region (NCR).

Solgram is currently operational only in Gurugram, where it runs one warehouse and one store. It plans to expand across the NCR before entering other Tier-I cities in the coming months.

It intends to build operational density and consistency in individual clusters before moving into new markets.

Solgram handles sourcing, quality inspection, storage, fulfilment and delivery itself. Its temperature-controlled stores have dedicated zones for different product categories, and orders go out in sealed thermal packaging through dedicated last-mile infrastructure.

Its assortment covers fresh produce, dairy, meats, seafood, bakery, gourmet pantry products and emerging food brands. It also offers Mindful Mode, a health-focused category featuring products with cleaner labels, nutritional information and details on where the products come from.

Customers can choose between scheduled batched delivery and express delivery. It has also introduced private-label products in dry fruits and bakery, including croissants and bread.
