Docterz, a healthcare technology startup founded by paediatrician Dr Atish Laddad, has raised Rs 5 crore from around 35 investors, including doctors who use its platform.
Around 20 doctor users contributed nearly Rs 3 crore, accounting for about 60% of the total funding. The investor group also includes Vineeta Singh, co-founder and CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics, and Avnish Anand, co-founder and former CEO of CaratLane.
The company plans to use the funds to expand organically, explore acquisitions and develop AI tools for doctors. It also aims to expand its reach among independent practitioners, smaller clinics and healthcare organisations across India.
Founded over a decade ago, Docterz offers an integrated platform for electronic medical records, appointments, billing, vaccination management and patient engagement. Its technology supports more than 5,000 doctors across India, with a strong presence in paediatrics.
The company is also developing AI-enabled tools to help doctors with documentation, administrative workflows, practice data analysis and patient follow-ups.
Dr Dhananjay Sangle, a paediatrician and Docterz investor, said his decision to invest was based on his experience using the platform for several years and his confidence in its founder.
Vineeta Singh said customer participation in a funding round was a strong signal for a business, adding that doctors investing in Docterz reflected their trust in the platform and its founder.
Dr Suhas Warad, another paediatrician and investor in the company, said technology designed around doctors’ needs could help them manage their practices more efficiently and devote more time to patient care.
