Zumigo Makes the Mobile Phone a Frictionless and Fraud-Aware Anchor of Digital Identity, Checking for SIM Swaps and Takeover Behind Every Silent Login

Zumigo, Inc., the award-winning mobile identity intelligence and fraud prevention company, announced its patented fraud-aware silent authentication for Zumigo Assure Authentication. Banks, fintechs, payment providers and merchants can now verify customers through their mobile phone with no codes and no extra steps, on cellular, Wi-Fi or desktop, while checking in the same moment whether that phone has been swapped, ported or hijacked.

The phone is the anchor of a customer’s digital identity, so we built authentication that is invisible to the real customer and checks whether that anchor has just been cut.

The mobile phone has become the anchor of digital identity. It is where customers log in, approve payments and recover their accounts, which is exactly why fraudsters target it. Silent authentication can confirm that a login comes from the SIM tied to the account. On its own, it cannot tell whether that SIM was moved to a fraudster’s device yesterday. And as generative AI makes faces, voices and documents easier to fake, a phone’s real history on the carrier network is one of the few signals left that a fraudster cannot fabricate.

For fraud teams, that means fewer step-ups and false positives for good customers, and an earlier, harder stop on account takeover at the moments it does the most damage.

“Fraud leaders don’t just need to know the right phone is present. They need to know it’s still in the right hands,” said Harish Manepalli, Chief Technology Officer, Zumigo.
