Zaria Systems, a provider of real-time infrastructure for mark-to-market credit and structured finance, has secured $5.2m in seed capital to expand its fiduciary platform.
Lightspeed Venture Partners led the round. The fresh capital will help Zaria grow its existing services and back its bid to establish Zaria National Trust Bank (ZNTB). The company recently filed an application for this charter with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). ZNTB is planned as a special-purpose national bank whose activities would be restricted to trust company operations and associated functions.
The raise arrives as structured finance faces pressure to move beyond its traditional reliance on periodic, batch-driven reviews of collateral. Growth in lending backed by securities, digital assets and tokenised instruments is increasing demand for continuous monitoring and automated margin calls.
Zaria aims to meet that need by delivering loan servicing, backup servicing, collateral management and agency services to participants in structured finance markets and to lenders working with digital asset collateral. Should the OCC approve the charter, Zaria intends to bring these offerings together under one federally regulated trustee. Deal stakeholders would then deal with a single regulated counterparty throughout a transaction, instead of coordinating a patchwork of separate providers.
Zaria builds infrastructure designed for modern structured finance. Through the proposed trust bank, it plans to provide corporate trustee and agency services, loan servicing, collateral management and backup servicing to banks, lenders and asset managers active in both traditional and digital asset markets.
Zaria co-founder and CEO Emily Barron said, “This financing lets us accelerate growth and scale our existing services.
