Whop, a California-based technology firm aiming to give everyone access to a sustainable income, has closed a $200m Series D funding round that values the business at $5.1bn.
Sequoia and Shopify Ventures co-led the investment. Whop plans to use the fresh capital to scale its international presence and step up research and development, with a focus on making payments and advertising markets work far more efficiently. This is the second time Whop has raised money in 2026.
In February, Tether made a $200m strategic investment in the company at a $1.6bn valuation.
The raise comes as AI disrupts conventional career routes and opportunities for entry-level workers have fallen to a record low. Whop positions its platform as a route for people facing this difficult job market to take control of their own financial prospects.
Around 25,000 business operators currently use Whop, collectively generating $550m every month. A further 50,000-plus people earn money each month by supplying services to those businesses.
Over the last three months, Whop has rolled out several new products. Business Blueprints allows newcomers to set up a business that is ready to start selling within a few clicks, and more than 21,000 businesses have been launched through it in the six weeks since its debut.
Whop CLI, released in July, makes the company’s API usable by any AI agent, so operators can manage their businesses through prompts. Together, the CLI and MCP connectors handle upwards of 350,000 calls daily and have more than 14,700 monthly active users.
