UOB aims to generate S$900 million in economic value from AI initiatives by 2030 as part of Enterprise Singapore’s Champions of AI programme.
The national initiative supports Singapore-based companies in adopting AI across their operations, moving beyond pilot projects towards enterprise-wide transformation.
UOB has deployed more than 300 AI and advanced analytics use cases, alongside over 30 domain-specific knowledge chatbots. The bank plans to expand its AI capabilities across its key ASEAN markets and beyond.
A key component is Project AURA (Advancing UOB, Reinventing through Advanced AI), which comprises 11 initiatives across five priority areas.
These include anti-money laundering and know-your-customer processes, wholesale banking credit, retail collections, and relationship manager support in retail and wholesale banking.
Applications include transaction surveillance, credit origination assistance, investment portfolio recommendations and collections automation.
UOB also plans to build an Enterprise Intelligence Hub that provides shared data, models and governance capabilities to support AI-driven decision-making.
On workforce development, UOB is equipping around 32,000 employees with AI, data and blockchain skills.
Approximately 90% of employees have completed generative AI upskilling, while more than 10 million Copilot prompts were generated within six months of implementation.
UOB is also developing future innovation leaders through its two-year Innovation Talent Associate Programme.
Its initial batch of 25 graduates is gaining experience in AI, automation, data analytics and business transformation.
“Success is not about moving the fastest, but moving with purpose and trust,”
said Wee Ee Cheong, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of UOB.
He added that UOB aims to help businesses across ASEAN adopt AI with confidence while preparing its workforce for an AI-powered economy.
