TD Bank U.S., the American arm of the TD banking group, has joined forces with Akoya, an open finance data access network, to give clients more security, transparency and control over how their financial information is shared with third parties.
Under the arrangement, a larger number of data aggregators and third-party providers will be able to link to TD using secure APIs through Akoya’s Open Finance Solution (OFS). The move is designed to cut dependence on credential-based access, meaning consumers will have less need to hand their bank login details to outside apps. TD clients will be able to decide which applications can view their financial data, check who currently holds access and revoke it whenever they wish.
The OFS will act as a single, standardised hub where third-party providers can explore the APIs TD makes available, register their applications and complete the process of setting up secure connections. The platform is expected to make links to TD easier to establish and maintain, and further features will be introduced over time as client requirements change.
TD said the partnership supports its wider effort to modernise the way clients manage their money. Through ongoing investment in API-based connectivity, the bank aims to deliver smoother digital experiences while protecting the security, privacy and trust it sees as central to its client relationships.
Akoya provides infrastructure that allows financial institutions and third-party providers to exchange consumer-permissioned financial data via APIs rather than shared credentials.
The two firms already have close ties. TD has backed Akoya as an investor since 2020, and Jo Jagadish took a seat on Akoya’s board of directors in 2025, contributing TD’s banking and customer insight to the development of open finance.
