Insurance capacity remains one of the main missing pieces for banks and asset managers entering digital assets. Without it, institutions cannot apply the same risk standards they use for every other asset class. The backing of two global financial groups that are active in digital assets reflects a growing recognition that specialized coverage is a prerequisite for institutional participation.
Soter Insure will use the proceeds to increase its insurance capacity, deepen its underwriting and technology capabilities, and expand into mature and emerging digital asset markets, including Asia-Pacific through its Hong Kong presence, Europe and the US.
“Banks can’t scale in digital assets without the risk protection they rely on everywhere else, and today that protection is still scarce,” said Henson Orser , Founder and CEO of Soter Insure. “With SC Ventures and SBI Group joining Galaxy, Coinbase Ventures and Franklin Templeton, we now have traditional finance and digital asset natives behind the same goal: insurance capacity at institutional scale.
