The number of PMJDY accounts has increased 2.3 times and deposits have risen 12.8 times over the past 12 years. The average deposit per account stood at Rs 5,356 as of 19 August 2026, indicating a rise in savings held through the financial inclusion programme.

Women account for 55.7% of PMJDY account holders, while 77.8% of accounts are in rural and semi-urban areas. 41.29 crore RuPay cards have been issued to PMJDY account holders as of 19 August 2026. PMJDY accounts have enabled access to government-backed insurance and pension schemes. The Jan-Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile framework has enabled direct transfer of welfare benefits into beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
