GPT-6.1 Terra is “a significant step up” from GPT-5.6 Terra, while its standard application programming interface (API) prices are 50% lower than those of GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol, according to the release.
Along with automating high-volume work, GPT-6.1 Terra excels in communication and computer-based tasks, including drafting proposals, interpreting technical drawings, filling out forms and editing videos, the release said.

OpenAI made GPT-6.1 Terra available to Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu users in ChatGPT Work and Codex, and to developers through the OpenAI API, on Monday, per the release.
“Terra continues to advance the cost-intelligence frontier across our model families, providing a new balance of speed, capability and cost,” OpenAI said in the release.
Bloomberg reported Oct. 9 that OpenAI’s enterprise business is driving the company’s gains in annualized revenue, which is expected to reach at least $70 billion by the end of the year, up from $50 billion at the end of September.
When OpenAI began rolling out ChatGPT Work on July 9, the company described the product as a new agent that is designed for work that is more complex than a typical chat request.
