NBS, a professional indemnity (PI) insurance provider, has integrated its product with Recorder, a digital insurance trading platform, using an application programming interface (API) to connect broker submissions directly with its underwriting system. The integration aims to cut manual administration while allowing NBS to retain control over its pricing and risk assessment processes.
The connection enables brokers to capture risk information in Recorder and transfer submissions directly to NBS, removing the need to re-enter details across separate systems. Once a submission reaches the insurer, it follows NBS’s existing underwriting workflow, with its own questions, pricing models and rules applied before underwriters assess the risk. Quotes and supporting documents are then returned through Recorder.
For insurance providers, integrating with broker platforms can improve digital distribution without requiring them to rebuild their underlying technology or change established underwriting practices. NBS’s API-led approach allows it to make its PI product available through another digital channel while maintaining ownership of how risks are assessed and priced.
The integration also gives brokers an additional route to access NBS’s offering within a platform they already use. By reducing duplicate data entry and switching between systems, the connection is intended to streamline submissions and make the placement process more efficient.
Recorder is designed to connect brokers with insurers and managing general agents (MGAs) through a common digital trading environment. Its model allows insurance providers to integrate their products into the platform while retaining their own systems and underwriting processes, giving brokers access to different offerings through connected workflows.
