The Future of Finance Institute (FFI) has begun operations, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced.
First announced in June 2026, the institute will initially focus on AI adoption in financial services through three programmes covering knowledge sharing, AI deployment and risk management.
FFI aims to support the adoption of emerging financial technologies by bringing together financial institutions, technology companies and researchers.
Its three programmes, PathFin.ai, BuildFin.ai and SafeFin.ai, will focus on sharing practical experience, developing tools and standards for AI deployment, and strengthening risk management practices, particularly for agentic AI.
FFI will establish a Knowledge Hub under PathFin.ai to help financial institutions identify, evaluate and adopt AI solutions that meet their needs.
The institute will also create Communities of Practice involving professionals from banking, insurance, capital markets, financial advisory and payments.
Participants will share experiences and discuss common challenges in AI adoption through industry exchanges, webinars and learning journeys.
Under BuildFin.ai, FFI will collaborate with financial institutions, technology companies and researchers to develop guidance, industry standards and shared tools for deploying AI, including agentic AI.
The programme will build on the Safeguards for Agentic Finance at Runtime (SAFR) framework, which MAS developed with industry partners.
FFI will focus on developing practical safeguards and tools to support the safe use of AI agents in financial services.
SafeFin.ai will bring financial institutions together to develop practical resources for implementing MAS’ Guidelines on AI Risk Management.
It will also enhance the MindForge AI Risk Management Toolkit to further address AI use case risk assessments, testing and assurance, and risks involving third-party AI.
