Global professional services firm Marsh is preparing to introduce captive insurance management services in Bahrain, which would make it the first international broker to offer the service in the Kingdom.
The planned expansion is intended to give businesses across the Gulf access to additional risk-financing options as organisations face increasingly complex exposures and look for greater control over how they manage risk.
Marsh provides risk management, insurance broking and specialist advisory services across 130 countries. The company generates annual revenue of $27bn and employs more than 95,000 people. Its regional operations already cover Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The new Bahrain offering will be overseen by Marcin Antosik, captive regional leader for the Middle East at Marsh, who also leads the firm’s captive services across the region.
Marsh has previously established a presence in the Gulf’s captive insurance market. It became the first international broker to receive a captive insurance licence in Dubai in 2008, followed by Abu Dhabi in 2018.
The announcement was made during the fourth edition of Gateway Gulf, held at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay on 1–2 November 2026. Organised by the Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB), the event brought together international investors, business leaders and policymakers under the theme ‘Reimagining Global Partnerships, Powering Sustainable Growth’.
Bahrain EDB is responsible for attracting investment into the Kingdom and supporting the development of its business environment. Its priority sectors include financial services, manufacturing, logistics, ICT and tourism.
Marsh Bahrain & Kuwait CEO Noor Al-Haji said, “Bahrain’s position as a well-regulated financial center, combined with the region’s continued economic diversification, makes this an important milestone for Marsh and for the wider captive insurance market in the Gulf.
