Malaysia has barred a Penang petrol station from selling subsidised fuel and withheld over RM270,000 in payments following suspected misuse of BUDI MADANI.
The Ministry of Finance (MOF) took action after receiving complaints from recipients who discovered their MyKad details had been used without their knowledge to purchase subsidised petrol.
MOF reviewed the station’s transaction records and found more than 1,000 transactions processed using a manual bypass method.
These transactions involved over 100,000 litres of petrol, with government subsidies exceeding RM270,000.
The station in Nibong Tebal is prohibited from selling subsidised RON95 petrol and diesel under the programme.
The initial amount of withheld subsidy payments is subject to further adjustments.
Nine individuals, including the station owner and family members, have also been temporarily blocked from accessing BUDI MADANI subsidies while further action is taken.
The ministry is reviewing the transaction records of several other individuals suspected of involvement.
Further action may follow if they are found to have misused the subsidies.
MOF warned that petrol stations and consumers found violating BUDI MADANI rules could face enforcement action.
It will continue monitoring transactions under the programme to detect potential misuse.
