FinTech funding continued at pace this week, with nine companies securing a combined $454.5m in disclosed equity and strategic investment across the 12 deals covered by FinTech Global.
Artificial intelligence remained a major theme, with funding flowing into businesses applying the technology to insurance underwriting, wealth management, institutional investing, voice automation and cybersecurity. Sentra led the week’s disclosed rounds with a $150m strategic investment, while Hoxton Wealth secured a $135m commitment as it prepares to expand its international wealth management business.
The disclosed investment total was below the $541m reported across 16 deals last week. However, the figures do not capture every transaction announced this week. Revolut did not disclose the amount raised in its latest fundraising process, tZERO agreed a proposed SPAC merger valuing the business at $350m, and Settle secured a forward-flow arrangement that could provide up to $100m in lending capacity.
WealthTech and InsurTech featured prominently, with PowerUp Money and Hoxton Wealth targeting the wealth management market, while Kalepa and Lazarus AI brought investment into insurance-related technology. Cybersecurity was another strong theme, with Sentra, Lazarus AI and Northstar Security all developing technology to help businesses manage the risks associated with increasingly complex digital environments.
Geographically, the US accounted for eight of the deals, followed by the UK with three and India with one. Hoxton Wealth operates from both London and Dubai but is counted under the UK for this breakdown, reflecting its London base.
3bn across 472 deals, a 69% year-on-year increase in funding and a 5% rise in deal volume.
