Episode Six has introduced real-time checks to help banks verify that the digital tokens they issue remain valid when customers redeem them.
The new feature, called Verified Backing, forms part of the E6 Token Control Ledger and supports banks issuing their own tokenised deposits and stablecoins.
Before issuing a tokenised deposit or stablecoin, the system verifies that the required backing has been recorded in the ledger.
At redemption, it checks that the token is genuine and remains outstanding before funds are released.
These checks work even if the token has moved across multiple wallets or blockchain networks.
Verified Backing checks tokens at issuance and redemption to help reduce the risk of counterfeit or invalid tokens being redeemed.
“For risk and compliance teams, the hardest question in tokenised money isn’t whether a token was genuine when it was created. It’s whether it’s still genuine by the time it’s redeemed.
Verified Backing gives a bank a real-time check on tokens issued through the E6 Token Control Ledger, helping it confirm that a token presented for redemption remains outstanding and has backing recorded for it.”
“Verified Backing is the natural next layer of the E6 Token Control Ledger: the same system of record that lets a bank issue and manage tokenised money on its own operating model now gives it a real-time check on supported tokens issued through the ledger.
This is the kind of infrastructure the next decade of banking will be built on.”
The feature runs within the bank’s E6 Token Control Ledger and applies to supported tokens issued through the system.
