The agreement was developed by Emirates NBD’s Employee Banking division, which focuses on extending the bank’s corporate relationships beyond conventional transaction banking into broader workplace benefit provision. Under the MoU, the three parties will collaborate on financial awareness sessions, dedicated account-opening support and tailored banking solutions for Almulla Group employees.
No financial terms were disclosed. The release did not specify which products would be offered, the number of employees covered, or milestones that would determine whether the MoU converts into a longer-term contractual arrangement.
The corporate employee banking segment has become a meaningful acquisition channel for retail deposits across the Gulf. Rather than competing solely on current account rates, major UAE banks have built structured programmes that sign large employers as distribution partners, then onboard their staff as banking customers at scale. The employer relationship reduces acquisition cost and provides a semi-captive base for cross-selling payroll accounts, personal finance and insurance products.
Emirates NBD, which reports 25 million active customers and total assets of AED 1.3 trillion as at June 2026, is among the most scaled players in the region. Its Liv digital banking app, with close to half a million users, illustrates the bank’s parallel push into direct digital acquisition. The employee banking channel complements that strategy by reaching salaried professionals through their employers rather than through app-store discovery.
The UAE Central Bank ‘s consumer protection framework increasingly emphasises transparent disclosure of fees and product terms in salary-transfer and packaged banking arrangements. Employer-anchored banking deals that bundle preferential rates with onboarding support sit within that framework, which means any product terms offered under the MoU will need to meet the Bank’s standards on clear pricing and switching rights.
