eLEND, a national residential mortgage lender, announced CreditEdge, a limited-time lending incentive that expands credit score eligibility on FHA cash-out refinances and conventional loans.
Through CreditEdge, eLEND will accept FHA cash-out refinances with credit scores as low as 500 and conventional loans with credit scores below 620, subject to AUS approval. The incentive gives mortgage brokers and lending partners a new path to serve borrowers who have been held back by traditional credit score requirements, at a time when affordability remains a major hurdle in housing.
“The Fed held rates steady last week, and with inflation still weighing on the economy, affordability can’t wait on rate relief,” said Rob Pieklo, President and CEO of eLEND. “That’s why we’re focused on what we can control. Expanding credit score requirements, backed by AUS approval to evaluate each borrower’s ability to repay, gives our broker partners more ways to get deals done and helps more people get into homes.”
According to the National Association of REALTORS® 2026 Home Buyers and Sellers Generational Trends report, first-time buyers made up just 21% of all home buyers, down from 24% in the previous survey and the lowest share since NAR began tracking in 1981. At the same time, FICO’s Spring 2026 Credit Insights report found the average U.S. FICO® Score slipped to 714, with lower-score segments expanding. Meanwhile, ICE’s August 2026 Mortgage Monitor reports that 47.5 million mortgage holders have $11.7 trillion in tappable equity, an average of about $212,000 each.
