CapitalOS has secured $21.9m in Series A funding, a move that could reshape how B2B platforms compete for the businesses that rely on them.
LGVP led the round, with new backing from WEX Venture Capital, Group11, Great North Ventures and Night Capital. Existing investors also took part. CapitalOS plans to use the capital to substantially expand the infrastructure it has built. The raise follows an 18-month period in which volume processed through the platform rose more than twentyfold.
The company argues that business software is moving away from simply logging activity and towards completing financial tasks on a customer’s behalf. It credits large language models with making this possible, saying the approach was unworkable three years ago and dependable only in limited scenarios a year ago.
CapitalOS now expects the majority of a business’s financial decisions to become automatable, with greater consistency than manual handling. For platforms, the firm says, moving money for customers creates stickier relationships, improves retention and unlocks fresh revenue.
CapitalOS gives software companies the tools to roll out financial products within weeks or even days. It absorbs the work of compliance, risk management and underwriting, sparing platforms from recruiting specialists, building dedicated engineering teams or maintaining infrastructure for years. Its offering rests on four components. Bills handles supplier payments by assessing terms, payment options and timing.
Cards provides issuing with built-in spending limits and captures context at the point of purchase. Wallets holds business cash, moving idle funds into treasury for yield and ring-fencing reserves for payroll, tax and growth.
