BFSI Movement: From LIC to Bank Of Baroda, Key Leadership Moves this week
India's BFSI sector witnessed significant leadership changes across banking, insurance, wealth management, and NBFC space this week from Dinesh Pant's exit as LIC MD and Bank of Baroda appointing KM Salam as Deputy CISO, to Generali Central Life bringing in Saddam Hossain as CRO, and former RBI CGM Shrimohan Yadav joining as Independent Director at Optimo Capital.
India's BFSI sector saw a flurry of top-level appointments this week, led by the government's induction of two new whole-time members to the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). The changes spanned the regulator, a public sector bank, a wealth manager, an insurer, and an NBFC , underscoring the sector's continued focus on risk governance, cybersecurity and regulatory preparedness. LIC's Dinesh Pant Retires as MD, Set to Take Charge at IRDAI Dinesh Pant retired as Managing Director of LIC on September 24, 2026, paving the way for him to take charge as Whole-Time Member (Actuary) at the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). Pant, who has over 35 years of experience across actuarial services, investments and risk management, was one of two appointees named to the IRDAI board. Both Pant and Girija Subramanian were notified as whole-time members of IRDAI earlier in June 2026: Pant as Whole-Time Member (Actuary) and Subramanian as Whole-Time Member (Distribution), each for a five-year term.
