Backbase, an Amsterdam-based provider of banking software, has launched Delivery Factory, an AI-powered platform designed to accelerate software development by pairing banking delivery teams with specialist AI agents throughout the development lifecycle.
The company said teams using the platform across more than 10 implementations over the past year completed work at twice the pace of conventional teams. According to Backbase, delivery was also 30% faster than teams using general-purpose AI coding assistants.
Backbase attributes the difference to how Delivery Factory establishes project context. Rather than working primarily from existing code, the platform draws on approved requirements, architecture specifications, scoping documents and meeting notes, combining them with Backbase’s product expertise. This creates a shared foundation for staff and AI agents across design, planning, development and review, reducing the need to repeat requirements at each stage.
Across the same implementations, Backbase reported an 80% reduction in effort spent on requirements and specifications, a 40% decrease in coding and review effort, and a 60% increase in testing and automation coverage. These figures were supplied by the company and relate to its reported implementations.
Delivery Factory assigns dedicated AI agents to different roles within the software development process. Its Business Analyst Agent converts project information into specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria for Jira, while the Solution Architect Agent helps assess design options, identify reusable services and prepare architecture proposals for review.
Backend, Mobile and Web Agents develop implementation plans based on project requirements and the bank’s version of Backbase’s software. Engineers then use their preferred coding tools to execute approved plans and verify code changes before moving forward.
