Adyen Adds 1,100 Tech and Sales Hires to Capture Growth Opportunities

FinTech platform Adyen expects to add as many as 1,100 specialized engineering and go-to-market roles this year to meet the needs of its existing commercial momentum and to capture growth opportunities, Interim Chief Financial Officer Hwa Tsao said Wednesday (Oct. 28) in prepared remarks for the company’s third quarter earnings call.

Tsao said this while sharing that during the third quarter, Adyen saw year-over-year increases of 23% in net revenue, which reached 738 million euros, and 30% in processed volume, which reached 451 billion euros.

Adyen’s gains were driven by winning a greater share of volumes from its existing enterprise merchants, onboarding what is shaping up to be its largest ever cohort of new enterprise customers and adding the recently acquired Talon. One and Orb, Tsao said.

“The momentum we see gives us substantial confidence in the opportunity ahead, and we have decided to step up our investment to capture it,” Tsao said.

That investment includes Adyen adding 426 full-time equivalents (FTEs) so far this year, as well as 399 from Talon. One and Orb. By the end of the year, with new hires and the additions from the acquired companies, Adyen expects to add a total of 1,000 to 1,100 FTEs, Tsao said.

“We intend to continue investing to win more of our addressable market given the size of the opportunity ahead,” Tsao said.
