Cumulative deliveries of Xpeng's (NYSE: XPEV) flagship GX SUV have surpassed 30,000, reaching the milestone about 5 months after launch as the company accelerates its overseas expansion.
The Chinese electric vehicle maker announced the milestone on Thursday. Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng handed over the vehicle that marked the milestone to its owner at the company's Yizhuang delivery center in Beijing.
The GX set the company's delivery speed record for premium models with an average price of 300,000 yuan ($44,646), Xpeng said. It also became the company's fastest model to surpass 10 billion yuan in revenue.
Xpeng said the GX has secured nearly 4,000 orders in the Middle East and will begin deliveries in the region and other global markets in its next phase. It did not disclose specific delivery dates or overseas pricing.
The order tally is up from the more than 3,000 announced on October 17, when Xpeng said it was shipping the GX to the Middle East and Africa on a large scale.
Overseas shipments of the GX began in August, and the latest order update shows the flagship model is expanding its reach beyond China.
Launched in China on May 20, the GX is a full-size, 6-seat SUV available in battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions.
At its Chinese launch, the model had an official price range of 279,800 yuan to 359,800 yuan, with a limited-time offer lowering the starting price to 269,800 yuan.
Xpeng announced on August 31 that GX deliveries had reached 20,000 .
