Popular Jaecoo J5 electric SUV discounted for Uber ride-share drivers

Omoda Jaecoo has announced it will offer up to 15% off the popular J5 EV to Uber rideshare drivers to help get more EVs into the rideshare business.

In a new initiative, the company will allow eligible Uber Pro Gold, Platinum and Diamond driver-partners to access exclusive savings on selected models, including the J5 EV, which is a mid-size SUV, that’s seen its populaity soar since launching in December last year, selling over 11,000 units so far this year.

There are other saving offers on Jaecoo’s other cars as well, including the J7 and the Omoda 9 which come with the company’s Super Hybrid System powertrain.

According to Omoda Jaecoo, eligible drivers can register via the company’s website to see available models, which are subject to availability.

Jaecoo launched the J5 EV in late 2025, with first deliveries starting in January 2026. It has a front-mounted 155 kW motor that produces 288 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.7 seconds, which is quite good for an electric mid-size SUV.

The J5 claims up to 402 km of WLTP range, powered by a 58.9 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery pack, and it also offers vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability.

On the inside, a 13.2-inch vertical screen controls air conditioning, digital radio, and vehicle settings.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard for seamless smartphone integration, and a 50 W wireless charger sits just under the screen in the minimalist cabin.
