New Tesla Roadster Reveal: How To Watch The Livestream

Tesla has been working on and off the new Roadster for a decade, but the sleek two-door EV is supposedly ready for prime time. Again.

Nine years ago, Elon Musk presented the second-generation sports car on stage at the end of the Semi reveal event and said that the small EV would be capable of driving 620 miles on a full charge.

The list of claims was wild—and still is, even after all these years. The bright red Roadster was touted as having a 200-kilowatt-hour battery, a top speed of over 250 miles per hour, and a zero-to-60 miles per hour acceleration of just one second.

Well, time went by, and Tesla kind of forgot about the second-generation Roadster. The company’s CEO occasionally threw fans a bone on X, claiming that the car would somehow be able to fly, and that it would be the “last best driver’s car.”

Now, Tesla has scheduled a new Roadster event, and it will be livestreamed on YouTube or X. There’s no link yet, but be sure to check back here, where you’ll find the video once it goes live. Initially, the event was scheduled for October 1, but it was ultimately postponed due to bad weather.

The livestream starts at 7:55 p.m. Central Time on Thursday, October 15 (8:55 p.m. Eastern Time / 12:55 a.m. GMT on Friday, October 16).

After years of delays, broken promises, and outrageous claims, expectations are low. Even with today’s battery technology, the new Roadster will likely have a far smaller-capacity battery than the 200 kWh pack touted in November 2017.
