London Ambulance Service (LAS) has contracted providers to ensure its expanding fleet of electric vehicles can be charged when and where they need power across the UK capital. SEE Services will install and maintain charging facilities and has appointed Optimo Energy as its Fleet Energy Operating System partner.
SEE Services is responsible for more than 700 charging connectors as part of the programme and has been selected by LAS to deliver and maintain charging infrastructure across its estate for the UK’s National Health Service (NHS). SEE Services has chosen Optimo Energy to provide the intelligent software platform and operational support capabilities to manage the charging network.
“Working with London Ambulance Service means understanding what is at stake. These are vehicles that people depend on in an emergency, and we take our responsibility to deliver and maintain their charging infrastructure seriously,” said Lance Curtis, EV Manager at SEE Services Limited. “We are bringing together the infrastructure, engineering expertise and ongoing maintenance needed to support LAS across its estate, while working closely with its teams to understand the requirements of an emergency response fleet.”
The first fully electric ambulance in London entered service on New Year’s Eve, 2023. The London Ambulance Service (LAS) introduced four custom-made emergency EVs in 2024 and has been expanding its electric services ever since. In July 2026, London Ambulance Service strengthened its fleet of electric ambulances by adding 77 new electric vehicles to its fleet.
To ensure that ambulances can carry out their emergency transport with electrically powered vehicles, Optimo is providing the software-based operational layer for the connected charging network, which brings together compatible charging equipment, vehicle energy data and site power management.
