The Huracán Sterrato was a big hit with Lamborghini faithful. Unfortunately, the ruggedized supercar was short-lived, surviving for just a few years before production ended. But that doesn't necessarily mean the Sterrato name is going away forever.

Lamborghini still hasn't confirmed a Sterrato-style version of its new twin-turbo V8 supercar, the Temerario, but executives haven't ruled out the idea entirely. Lamborghini Product Line Director Paolo Racchetti recently told CarExpert:

'Definitely, there could be a car such as the Sterrato… I'm not saying we are planning to do that, but I'm not excluding that it could happen again.'

That's obviously not a confirmation, but it certainly leaves the door open for a new Temerario Sterrato.

This isn't the first time Lamborghini has suggested the Sterrato name could return.

When we spoke with Lamborghini Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Federico Foschini at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, he said the company was still considering additional Sterrato models. He told us:

Foschini acknowledged that Lamborghini can't pursue every possible derivative at the same time, but said the idea would remain in the background following the success of the Huracán Sterrato. He also suggested that Lamborghini's existing platforms could make the transition relatively straightforward.

He pointed to the Urus SE as an example, noting that there isn't a huge gap between the standard Urus and what a Sterrato version could be. Lamborghini could use different tires, revised suspension settings, and a greater emphasis on off-road driving to create something new without fundamentally changing the vehicle.
