Kia’s EV6 GT beat out the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7 in a German EV comparison test

Kia’s electric sports car beat out the Tesla Model Y Performance and BYD’s Sealion 7 in a recent comparison test by the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, ranking first overall.

It wasn’t a German brand or a Chinese one. It wasn’t even the Tesla Model Y Performance. Kia’s electric sports car, the EV6 GT, took first place in a recent high-performance EV test in Germany, the heart of Europe.

The comparison test, held by German auto magazine Auto Motor und Sport, evaluated five high-performance EVs across seven categories: body, safety, comfort and convenience, powertrain, driving performance, environmental friendliness, and running costs.

The EV6 GT ranked first overall with 585 points, 9 points ahead of the Tesla Model Y Performance, which took second with 576 points.

The Zeekr 7GT ranked third with 569 points, followed by the Polestar 4 Coupe Dual Motor with 531 points, and the BYD Sealion 7 AWD Excellence, which ranked fifth with 508 points.

Kia’s electric sports car took the top spot in three of the seven categories: safety, powertrain, and driving performance. In the safety category, the EV6 GT scored highest for its superior braking and high-speed stability.

The EV6 GT earned praise in the powertrain category, boasting up to 650 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque from its dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) powertrain.

In the driving performance category, Kia’s electric sports car scored 20 points higher (96 points) than the Tesla Model Y Performance in second (76 points).

According to Auto Motor und Sport, the Kia EV6 GT took first place overall in the comparison test due to its “outstanding driving performance.”
