JK Tyre increases premium tyre share to 40% in H1 FY27 as SUV demand rises
The share of tyres with rim sizes of 16 inches and above in its passenger car OE business rose from 35% in H1 FY26, driven by SUV demand and the greater availability of larger rim sizes across vehicle categories.
JK Tyre expects demand to remain stable, supported by customer traction across segments and the ongoing festive season. The management is targeting double-digit growth for the company.
JK Tyre and Industries grew the share of premium tyres (16 inches and above) to 40 per cent of its passenger car original equipment (OE) business in H1 FY27, up from 35 per cent in the last fiscal year. This is driven by rising SUV penetration and the introduction of new vehicle models with larger wheel sizes. Tyre manufacturers said the rising preference for SUVs and the greater availability of larger rim sizes across vehicle categories are expanding the market for premium tyres. Advt
"We are almost at 40 per cent in this 16-inch and above segment, up from about 35 per cent last year in FY26. We have seen a considerable jump in our 16-inch and above bracket, mainly because we have bagged orders of Maruti Brezza, Renault Duster and MG Tomahawk, and even Mahindra," said Anshuman Singhania, Managing Director, JK Tyre & Industries, during the company's Q2 FY27 post-earnings call. Singhania added that JK Tyre's growth in the 16-inch-and-above category is outpacing the broader market, and the company expects the segment to expand further as more new models enter the market.
